'My Beast' screenprinted artist book

‘My Beast’ visually narrates a journey of metamorphosis. The reference to Louis Stevenson’ Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is what prompts the beginning of this story. The human gradually transforms into an amphibian, reptile and bird creature by experiencing and embracing new elements. Lost into its mind and impulses the human creature finds its own true form that celebrates the beauty of authentic self discovery. The autobiographical element of ‘My Beast’ gives the journey a personal and more intimate feel but hopes to engage the viewer so that they can identify oneself with the character. The capacity for visual language, supported by few verses, to express without defining allows the story to remain open to different interpretations thus strengthens the viewer’s role of attributing meaning.
